Cece Turns 7 Months!

Hey everybody! <br />
<br />
It's a cliche I hear about ten times a day, "She grows up before you know it." Already going through this once, I know this for a fact. However, that doesn't mean I'm anymore prepared than I was 9 years ago with Cece's sister, Ellie.  Cece turned 7 months old on the 6th of this month, and I already find myself saying, "where did the time go?" and "I remember holding you when you were this big {as I hold out my two hands close together}.<br />
<br />
So, yeah. 7 Months. She's sitting and crawling and eating veggies (pureed, of course), <br />

Benfield Family Vacation: Hollywood!

Hey everybody! <br />

Ellie turned 9 recently and as her main present, I told her she could pick a place in the US she wanted to take a trip to, and she chose Hollywood!  So, off we went on a fun little California adventure as a family.  <br />
<br />
Let me just say, it's weird to take a trip for personal reasons instead of business. I'm always traveling for business (did you see our new travel page on our website?!), but I totally enjoyed it!<br />
<br />
It was LA Food week, so we enjoyed some amazing meals (for more of those, check out my instagram feed - I met one of the most famous chefs in the world!); Here we have a little Gordon Ramsay at the London.  The signature Beef Wellington was all we had hoped for! And the sticky toffee pudding was insane.<br />

We relaxed and swam at the rooftop pool of the W Hollywood a couple days.  Cece and Ellie both love the water... and each other.<br />

So, we loved our week in LA. Well, driving aside.  I'm not going to lie... I don't know how everyone in LA doesn't go crazy with their terrible traffic.  I could never live there... unless I had a private helicopter to tote me around.  But the food was amazing, the sites were gorgeous, and we had such a nice bonding time!<br />

I can't take too much credit; the interior design of our house is due in large parts to Mere, and countless gifts by our BFF Kirsten (owner of Riffraff), but I'm proud of it nonetheless!  Read all about it in this month's issue of Citiscapes magazine!<br />

First, it takes more than a day to just go through them all... as in morning, noon, night of non-stop viewing. I shoot a lot. Second, she's been a little model from the beginning, and the kid rarely takes a bad picture.  Third, viewing each image is like re-living a memory, and I just want to share them all with all of y'all (that was a lot of "all"s).<br /><br />Well anyway, my sweet little Ellie is turning 9 years old today, and my brain is having trouble computing that she is 1/2way to being a full-fledged adult. I can't believe that it has been 9 years... I JUST CAN'T!  But somehow... it's true.  So, I thought I'd share 9 of my favorite images of my precious, and 9 reasons why I'm so crazy for this girl.<br /><br />1) She was a good baby! She recently saved her allowance and chore money for months and months to save up for a new American Girl doll. I remember the first time she pulled my arm around her to cuddle, and I was just smitten. She cherishes our relationship, is always grateful for our personal time, and is very affectionate.<br /><a href="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/13Blog/0721_ellie/006.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/13Blog/0721_ellie/006.jpg" /></a><br /><script data-pin-hover="true" src="//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js" type="text/javascript"></script>  <br /><br />7) She is an amazing big sister.  She always wants to hold, feed, dress, and love on Cece. She throws outfits together that I'd never think of, and they work perfectly. I've never read a 2000+ page book cover to cover. Yet, if you've been with me since the beginning, that's exactly what you've done! Today marks my 2000th blog post, and I couldn't be in more awe.  I've shared my life (yes, even the personal stuff), my loves, my business, pretty much my everything on this blog.<br /><br />Not a wedding goes by that someone doesn't come up to Meredith or me and say they read our blog - - let me just say... that ALWAYS makes my night, because it means that I'm not wasting my time updating this blog EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.  So, thanks for speaking up, and for keeping up!  We adore our readers!<br /><br />I've said this before and I'll say it again: blogging every day is not easy. Some days, like the day Cece was born and Mere was not doing well, it's downright PAINFUL to remain committed to the blog.  But it's on days like that which I feel are MOST important to share what's going on in our lives without our faithful readers. It's on days like those that I'm thankful for you: someone who is there for me in the best times and the worst times.<br /><br />I learned long ago that sharing is the only way I wanted to live my life, and run my business. I'm pretty much an open book and plan on keeping it that way. I'm glad you have gotten to know me and the fam, and for those who have reached out to me in one way or another, I'm glad to know you as well!  Relationships are what this world is all about, and if my blog helps build a few more, it served its purpose!<br /><br />Many people asked how many days in a row I plan to blog. The answer is: I don't know.  When there is something important enough to take my time away from my blogging for the day, I suppose. But if it hasn't happened yet (with all we've been through), it might not ever. I don't see it stopping in the near future, anyway.  As long as you keep coming back to read, I'll work my hardest day after day to keep coming back to write.<br /><br />Finally, I thank you. 5 Month Old Cece! Work Hard, Play Hard

<a href="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/13Blog/bloggerDale.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/13Blog/bloggerDale.jpg" width="800" /></a> <br /><br />Hey everybody! <br /><br />Meredith and I spent 20 hours in the car this weekend driving all over Louisiana, from Monroe to Baton Rouge, and back. The two of us work extremely hard, and being away from Cece (and Ellie) during our wedding weekends make it seem like we work that much harder. I'm definitely not complaining... actually, I'm thankful for this time with my wife, this time investing in my clients, and the opportunity to do what fuels me as an artist for a living. More specifically, it helps me to appreciate the time I have with my family. I know some parents who travel during the week and see their family on the weekends. What a difficult and sacrificial life that is! <br /><br />Recently, Cece turned 5 months old, and I can't imagine life without her.  I can't imagine Ellie not being the amazing big sister she is, and I can't imagine Meredith not being the beautiful and nurturing mother she is. In the last 5 months, we've grown so quickly and deeply as a family. We've become better at our work and family balance (with the help of our family who always step in to help), and have embraced the "work hard, then play hard" lifestyle. There will always be that struggle for me to "turn off work" - if you're a Benny Bride you already know this - but dedicating my non-work time to quality time with my family helps with this.<br /><br />Okay, now on to less sappy personal stuff... when did babies start wearing high heels? Not only did he give me my first camera, he encouraged me to be a photographer and supported my business. There were countless times he would guide me in my photography, lift me up and share my work with others, and lend some much needed sharp business advice in the early days  of my business.  There's no doubt Benfield Photography would not be where it is without Dale Benfield, Sr... my dad.<br /><br />If he had his way, Dad wouldn't allow me to post this.  Always shying away from the limelight, he takes delight in allowing others he helps have the success and glory. He's what I call a silent giver.  You might not even realize he is helping you out until you look back at all the times he set you up for success.  The Silent Giver also gave me my work ethic. Dad is the most dedicated worker I've ever known, and I treasure how his work ethic is instilled in me. It's one of my greatest qualities (besides my crazy good looks and amazing sense of humor, which I also share with him). Seriously, he taught me that there is pride in doing a job perfectly day in and day out without relent.
